Cost
.now

Your cooperation with legacies.now makes it possible to make the establishment of an own, in practice often cost-intensive organizational structure - e.g. a foundation - superfluous or at least to keep it very lean. We send this ahead because it is so important for the consideration of costs.

Our core value proposition is the development of funding recommendations, specifically the identification and examination of far above average issue areas, particularly effective interventions, and particularly efficient nonprofit organizations.

Our funding recommendations presuppose that we obtain a comprehensive overview of each topic area we work on - and keep it up to date (including through extensive reading and exchanges with relevant stakeholders). They also require us to consider measures and organizations that we do not(!) recommend funding after a thorough analysis. And they presuppose that we remain in close contact with organizations that have already been recommended, in order to check whether we can continue to recommend them.

We continue to work with the vast majority of our clients after we have initially developed their funding strategy and funding recommendations. We then periodically report on the funded activities and organizations and adjust our recommendations - both along our findings and potentially changing funding priorities. Often, our clients request that we manage the entire flow of information between them and the funded organizations. As a result, almost all tasks that would traditionally be the responsibility of a separate organization (e.g. foundation) are then in the hands of legacies.now.

For our support we charge a daily rate of 1,800 EUR plus VAT. The annual salaries at legacies.now are limited to a maximum of 100,000 EUR. If there are any profits at the end of a year, our bylaws state that they will be donated.

In the case of a multi-year support, our cost ratio (= fees to legacies.now) is currently about 5% of the moved funding volume. Deviations can occur if the subject areas funded by our clients are particularly diverse or if customer-specific (sub-) subject areas are to be developed and supported.

Compared to the typical expense ratio of foundations, 5% of the funding volume is an exceptionally low value. The main explanation for this is that we keep our costs low and the remuneration for our work, especially research, is spread over several (client) shoulders. This makes mandating legacies.now attractive not only from the point of view of content, but also from the point of view of cost.
